Well, as you stated, Mac isn't your territory. Every Mac application that handles video wants H264 basically, so adding a codec that is completely unknown to me seems out of the picture. Especially considering you won't be using it.

Looks like one of the components (or pins if you will) is loose if you ask me. I don't know the details, but I imagine the 3DS to have RGB channels or something that go to the screen.
