I haven't tested it thoroughly (only tried it on a beta release a while ago), but from what others have told me, the software works fine in Windows 8.

Mute your microphone, and use your PC's line in (not mic in).
Another person had a laptop where the external mic port was shared with the internal mic, and he couldn't select one or the other (terrible design...) If that's your case, you might be SOL.

The DS normally won't start up if the top screen is missing. I can modify the capture board so it will stay on though. The wifi antenna is in the top section, but you could move it somewhere else.

I usually add more every day.

I put some more boards up. I'm not doing preorders right now, but I'll update the stock status at a predictable time so you don't need to keep checking it.
