Posting from the UK to US

Post by mbaldwin9995 » Thu May 12, 2016 8:39 am

So I've come across customs that are apparently required to post from the UK to the US, and I have to fill out a CN22 form - just wanted to check this was the right thing to do, and if so, do I list it as:

Gift
Commercial
Other

Thanks.

To avoid all this as you will have to pay customs as it's not fair for Loopy to undervalue or claim as gift, Merki is in Europe an it takes less than a week to get it back, the complete cost was around £250 including postage.

I mean that didn't really answer my question but I'm not buying from merki, it's about £100 more.

How did you calculate this?

Neals shopprice is 214$ after conversion to EUR this is about 210 EUR. But you are buying out of Europe that means plus Tax and customs for you and everybody living in Europe!

So 210 plus 39,90 for 19% tax to Germany for example is 249,90 plus 10% customs 24,99 is 274,89 EUR.

So the European shop is showing 239 EUR including tax and 19 EUR shipping to everywhere in Europe - this is 258 EUR.

So 274,89 EUR for US - 258 EUR for EUROPE!

Where are the £100 more?

I'm in the UK, we don't use the euro, so merki charges £188 which is an extra £30 for installation (without a 3ds, which is £337 from merki), but loopy charges £150, so maybe I was wrong about £100, but loopy seems to have the best reputation as well.

Basically I paid less than £200 for this, whereas it is more from merki.

All this is besides the point though, I just wanted to know about the CN22 Declaration..
(although i've sent it now so..)

Nope you didn't get it, If you are from Europe then you pay less if you are using Euro or Pound what ever currency it does not matter - it is the same!
At the Merki shop there is no extra for installtion or anything you pay more - it is the same as Loopy (Neal) asks!
This is simply because of the extra tax and customs you will pay later on the way back, when it gets back to Europe.
This you will when it returns to your country, this is before you get it handed out your transportation company will carge you - not Loopy!
Here is what Loopy (Neal) says at his order page:
International shipments: buyer is responsible for paying any extra customs / VAT fees.
Other reasons I can accept and are fine for me, but it is nothing money related that you are telling here first!
Regards
Tecd0c (Stefan Merki)

Well, I paid £150 for the card, £12 for postage (212 euros) - how much will customs be? Either way it's too late now and I only did it because I've heard lots of good things about loopy specifically, I don't mean anything against yours I just haven't really heard of it and wanted to be certain.

Again - I have no problem if you prefer Loopy, because of his reputation or just because you like the color of his eyes :) or whatever...
I just do not like compares that are not valid and this is what you have done

You will have to pay the VAT from England this should be 20% as this is your country asking, plus customs on top 10%.
This applies for all purchases you do outside Europe. As soon the parcel gets back to England. You will have either go and pick your parcel up or pay the transportation company for it.

England is for now in the EU :)
So for all European citizen it means that all purchases inside EU are free from additional customs or VAT.
Only once the seller must apply the VAT from the country where he sells the goods from - this is because all EU members did sign a letter of understanding to proceed like that.
