One last thing, lets say I have a DSi, would that count as the original DS or is there no modding ability available for the DSi yet?

Unfortunately, Loopy can only mod the original "phat" DS. AFAIK, the only one who did DSi modding was Katsukity, but I don't see it listed on his site anymore.
