3DS USB Charge cable possible?

Post by Chroma » Sun Nov 06, 2022 9:28 am

Heya just a quick question.

As the microUSB port on the capture board doesn't recharge the 3DS and the 3DS has generally poor battery life, I'm wondering if it's somehow possible to get the capture board to speak to one of these data/power USB cables?
(https://www.amazon.ca/Data-Power-Chargi ... 178&sr=8-6)

I'm 99.9999% sure it's a no, but I wanted to check. Just trying to reduce cables flying every direction, I've already got far too much hooking up other capture cards, adapters, chargers and whatever else and it would be nice to have some way to have the capture work as it also keeps the battery charged. If there's also some kind of alternative I'm missing, I'd love to know.

Thanks.

No it can’t. That only delivers power.

I figured, just some of these listings keep claiming they offer data output through the cable as well, and I couldn't even begin to think what that would be for.

That would be a complete lie. There is no technical way for (useable) data to go through the charge port without hardware/software modification.

Thanks for confirming, good ol' Amazon posting freedom coming through yet again. I remember something like half a decade ago, something like 93% of their "Apple certified" charge cables were hand-audited by Apple and considered to be unsafe for long-term charging.
