If all you want to do is be able to use a controller on your handheld, then yes, that's it. The capture card is only if you want to output your gameplay.

According to the other posts in this thread, it should.

Hello, I was interested in the controller mod and have a few questions.

1: Theoretically, since a Wavebird has been shown to work with this mod, can the receiver be placed internally since the bulk of the adapter wouldn't be used?

2: What at the moment prevents the controller mod from working on the New3DS?

1. If you can get it to fit, yes. Good luck. The wavebird receiver uses quite a bit of power, so I wouldn't recommend leaving it permanently attached.

2. Extra buttons and analog stick on the N3DS. It should work fine as is, if you don't care about that.

It wasn't design for it. There's nowhere to connect the extra inputs, and some extra components on the board are necessary.

Would it be possible to use a second mod chip for the extra input?

** R2, L2 in the documentation refers to secondary L/R buttons (Z on GameCube, ZL/ZR on Wii, R1/L1 on PlayStation).

Circle Pad Pro
---------------
The adapter emulates a Circle Pad Pro, using your controller's secondary analog stick. CPP emulation is disabled while a controller is unplugged. While the CPP is active, button mapping is also changed:

controller L -> CPP ZL
controller R -> CPP ZR
controller L2 -> 3DS L
controller R2 -> CPP R

Smash Bros.
-----------
The second analog stick is used for smash and ariel attacks (direction+A) in Super Smash Bros.
The R2 button (i.e. GameCube Z) is mapped to 3DS L.
Hold Z with C-stick for Smash charging (Melee-style controls).

So, my controller seems to be stuck in the Smash Bros. mode. I am using a pretty crappy 3rd party controller, could that be the problem?

Hi, I'm very interested in buying your board for a project I am working on, I just have a couple of questions for my own understanding;

    1. How is the R button treated for non-circle pad games - can the config be set up to simultaneously press both the 3ds and circle pad R at the same time?
    2. Is it possible to skip reconnecting the internal 3ds analog and only use the controller? (I plan on rehousing my 2ds inside a Wii U gamepad and will have no use for it)
    3. Can a switch be added to the IR reciever wire so it does not interfere with other IR functions?

Thanks for your time. :)

@loopy Would a controller mod even fit inside of a n3ds (non xl)?
