Unresponsive X button on original DS

So when I got my original DS, the X button was unresponsive. I dabbed IPA on the microswitch and that fixed it, so I sent it in to get the card installed. When I got it sent back, the X button was unresponsive again, so I dabbed IPA on it again and it fixed it. However, now it is unresponsive again. Does anyone have a clue as to why this may be the case? I'd rather not have to reapply IPA every time it goes unresponsive.
