Twitch Streaming

Post by batosaims » Tue Dec 24, 2013 8:14 pm

I just got my 3DS Capture card and I need to know the setup for Twitch streaming.

I try using OBS to capture the 3DS window and half of the screen is black.

What software is best for Twitch Streaming the 3DS?

Thanks

Personally I use Xsplit. Haven't messed with OBS very much.

In Xsplit I can crop the screen regions as I want. Perhaps OBS has a similar option to reduce the amount of blank area on the screen.

Is Xsplit free?

A free version is available, but isn't very good. For a great free alternative, I'd recommend OBS.

You have to use a better stream layout. Just using the 3DS capture app isn't good enough.
Here is a simple layout to get you started:
  • Go to Settings -> Video, set the Base Resolution to "Custom: 1280 x 480"
  • Click OK
  • Remove your source from the scene
  • Click Preview Stream and then Edit Scene (you should see a black scene now)
  • Add a new Window Capture source, name it "Top", point it to the 3DS Capture window. Check the "Sub-Region" checkbox, set the Position to 0/0, the Size to 400/240, and click OK
  • Do that again, but name the scene "Bottom", use 40/240 for the position and 320/240 for the size
  • Drag the top screen to the top-right corner of the scene and resize it so it fills the vertical space completely
  • Drag the bottom screen to the bottom-left corner and resize it until you hit the top screen
End result:

Tweak the layout as needed.
