When I unplug it and plug it right back into the windows 7 computer, its fine again, but it will go black sometimes as fast as every 6 minutes or so.

Has this issue been addressed besides trying other wires?

My card was working for years but started doing it today.

Also, can over-heating (hot room, summertime) do anything bad?

I just got my capture card back and haven't even had it a month, only used it TWICE and its now doing this. Sigh really disappointing. I don't understand it.

Everything was fine for me the next day. I tried 5 used USB cords and they all were bad. I found a totally new sealed-in-plastic usb cord AND restarted my entire computer; used a different port on the computer..... and everything works again.
