Is It Safe To Reshell These 3DS?

Post by ThatBaldGamer » Fri May 19, 2023 11:15 am

Hey there!

Got my Loopy Board nearly a couple years ago. LOVE IT!

However, I was looking into the possibility of potentially upgrading and "future proofing" my 3DS and was wondering if it's safe to reshell a 3DS with a Loopy board on it?

I'm not super hardware savvy, although I'm starting to get into soldering batteries into GBA games.

Was wondering if any of you more experienced repair folk might have an answer!

Thanks again!

Are you talking about the original 3DS? Putting on a new shell shouldn't be a problem, though you may have to cut it for the capture board (which, I believe, has to be done to the original shell in order to install the board). But DS shells in general are tricky to swap, mainly because of the top panel. Running the ribbon cables from the top panel back through the hinge to the motherboard... Not easy, not fun. So, capture board or not, I say do it at your own risk.
