Can I replace the cartridge slot on a n3dsxl with a capture board

I ask this because my cartridge slot is acting up. I want to try to get a replacement cartridge slot to see if I can get it replaced. Bit I only hope that it doesnt do any damage to the n3ds xl itself or the capture board.

Yes. The cartridge slot is a modular part on the New 3DS XL.

Loopy's installation guide. There's a part where you have to remove the cartridge slot. Replace it when you get to that point. You can also find YouTube videos on it. Look up bottom screen replacement videos as they also have to remove the cartridge slot to get there.
