Help with Loopy(?) Capture Card

Post by PieStudios » Mon Jan 15, 2024 8:25 pm

I recently got what I assume is a Loopy Original 3DS Capture card. It's got the big black bump on the bottom, and as far as I know the Katsukity was fully internal. But as far as the actual issue goes, the capture card just gives a black image. It gets recognized within Windows, as it makes the dinging noise. But on the software, it says "Not Connected". I'm not sure if the capture card is just straight up dead or if it's salvageable. I only paid $67 so it's not a huge deal if the capture card part doesn't work, but I would definitely like to get it working for some YouTube videos I'm planning on.

Okay, in USB devices it's listed as a Cypress EZ-USB with no EEPROM, is that bad?

That looks like a mini-USB port, which is what Katsukity used for 3DS and Vita. Loopy used micro-USB (now USB-C).

Get the drivers and viewer here: https://blog-non-standard.blogspot.com/

Simply enter your product key and you're good to go. You have a product key, right?

I sure don't have a product key. Apparently Optimize can give you your product key so I emailed him with my Device ID. Hope I can get it because I could really use this for videos 🙏

Beautiful! I always thought you were screwed if you lost your product key, so this is encouraging. Now it's just the number of devices you have to worry about. IIRC it was 20 devices (i.e. 20 laptops) assuming it's the same as Katsukity Vita capture cards, so just keep that in mind too.

And to keep that mini-USB port in good condition (seems to be a common failure point), if you're laying the 3DS on your desk with the USB cord attached, I'd suggest putting the 3DS on something to give the USB head room to breathe. Some heads are fatter than others and you don't want to stress the port.
