Stereoscopic 3D Capture

Hi there Loopy. I just got my hands on one of your new capture kits in a New 3DSxl and it's a great piece of kit. All seems to work exactly as I'd hope it would with the newest standard 5.4 release. Very happy with that :D

One thing I was hoping would work though is Stereoscopic 3D. I have a Spatiallabs View Autostereoscopic display that I'm dying to use this thing on and I was hoping that I'd be able to make use of it with the latest beta 3D build that I saw posted a while back on these forums (beta3d_20210130 - http://3dscapture.com/tmp/3ds_capture_beta3d.zip). Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work (The 3D beta build just doesn't seem to be detecting the capture card, despite it working perfectly fine on the 5.4 build), and I'm assuming that it's because it's meant for the older version of your capture card/driver software, rather than the current batch that you're producing.

Do you have any plans to re-enable the 3D support in the current build of the capture software/driver? I'd be very happy to test it for you, especially considering that this display basically features the same tech as what the New3DS display itself actually uses (just in 4k instead of 240p and, you know, being a heck of a lot larger!). As long as full screen SBS 3D is supported, it should Just Work on this display! :D

I second this. As someone who is a huge fan of the stereoscopic features, I've been hoping to capture that, as well.

Yeah, I want to be able to play 3DS games on my 3D plasma. It would look so neat.

Neat monitor. I'd get one to play with, but ... damn, they're pricey.

I threw together a test build. https://3dscapture.com/tmp/3ds_capture_20240515.zip

This test build is fantastic! I should be able to get some of the first(?) proper 3D captures of games that mean a lot to me. Thanks! :D

Here's some test footage from when I was playing around with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-9yPB3qorQ

Wow! I did not know the CC was able to transmit the full 400x240 x 2 pixels of the top screen.
Would you mind sharing the code to access the transfer for the second set of pixels? I'd like to code support for 800x240 3DS software.

This is the current code I use for connecting: https://github.com/Lorenzooone/cc3dsfs/ ... e.cpp#L163

Hi Loopy, thanks for updating the build!

I just had a chance to try out the test build now and I can confirm that it does indeed work! I can enable S3D and it does indeed display in S3D on the display!

However, right now, the aspect ratio is incorrect. When enabling SBS 3D, you get two images in the usual 3DS aspect ratio...

Image

... which ends up resulting in this when 3D is actually enabled... (just pretend that the off-screen photo is in 3D :p)

Image

In order for the aspect ratio to be correct, you would need to stretch each SBS image vertically to fit the 16:9 aspect ratio; similar to how the Citra emulator does it...

Image

I think your older version of the software actually did have a stretched SBS 3D option enabled before, so that should work perfectly here if you were to re-enable it :D

Edit: Yeah, doing a full screen stretch in OBS also gives me the correct aspect ratio...

Image

Image

... of course, OBS adds some input lag, so it's not ideal for actually playing, but a full screen SBS stretch in your capture software would do the trick and make it perfect! :D
