I was hoping to not have to modify my 3ds grip which would probably cover the area that they typical loopy install is found at.
1. Would it be possible to just replace the existing charging port?
2. Any disadvantages to using the USB-C capture card port as the charger?
3. Is this a possible request when sending it in to loopy to install?

1. I mean the capture card literally gets soldered to the charging port. You literally can just charge via USB-C forever
2. I mean it's easier to do it. Just desolder it, file enough space, add usb c breakout, solder the pins and use sugru to cover the holes
3. Nothing really outside the board gets hot
4. I mean you could ask but kind of pointless as the USB-C already is the replacement port.
If you mean, you want the USB-C to be where the port is, it's not going to happen. The ribbon cables for the audio won't reach.Then there's the whole shape of the board. It's a mess.
The closest would be the USB-C port is desoldered and replaced with a breakout board that's put on the 3DS charger port. It will end up losing 3D TV capture as that uses USB 3 and breakout boards that will fit are usually 2.0.
