Error 318 While Installing Firmware

I plugged in my 3DS and loaded the capture software and got the firmware update message. I tried to click update, but an error message popped up that said "Error (318) Failed!" I tried this on a different computer and got the same message. What does this mean?

I have almost the same problem and I'm fairly sure I didn't brick my 3DS by flashing DS firmware or removing the USB cable during the firmware update.

Also, the software version 2.13 still works for viewing the 3DS, in case you needed to know. I bought the 3DS w/ capture board around June 2013.

Unknown devicetype. Different board revs use different firmware. My guess is you have a newer board and are trying to run an older software version(?) It doesn't recognize your board type so the firmware flashing fails.

(There are 4 different board types, in case you were wondering. Components were changed in different production runs, but the boards are functionally identical.)

Odd. A general read error, shouldn't normally happen. Try it again. If you keep getting the same error, there's something ... weird going on with your board. I can swap it out with a new one if you want, I'd like to take a look at it.

I've tried it at least ten times, swapping it out would help a lot. I'll send an email with the details.

I'm having this same issue right now. Is there a fix I can do here, or do I need to send my system in? Really hoping it's the former.
