Question before I buy.

I recently got a 3DS XL to replace my old 3DS, and now I want to send in my old 3DS for a capture board, but the screen on it is broken. In the image is my 3DS screen next to my XL for comparison. Notice how dim the top screen on the original 3DS is. The screen still displays an image, however.Only the top screen is affected as well. I was wondering if I should get this repaired/get a new 3DS or if this won't affect the capturing.

It shouldn't affect capturing, it looks like just the backlight went bad.
