3DS Capture Card - Device Not Transmitting Signal

Post by AeroTheManiac » Sun Aug 21, 2022 7:44 pm

Hello,
The 3DS Capture Card has been working fine for quite some time now. I'm about 80 hours into editing a series with a severe time crunch with another 50-75 to go and mid-recording, the device stopped being read. I've changed cables, restarted PC, messed with the software settings, no dice. For some reason it's just not sending a signal anymore, but the computer does in fact recognize the USB is there. Again, Super duper time crunch right here and this is a gigantic wrench thrown into the works.

Here is a 1-minute video to help visualize: https://youtu.be/JXPO2ci1iwE

UPDATE: I've installed the Capture Software on another PC and it is receiving signal there. I have no idea what the problem is because this confirms it's not the cable, it's not the capture card, it's not the USB port (I've even cleared all ports and left only the one to record in to see). The only thing that makes it work is a switch of PC which obviously I can't do because all my stuff is here.

What do you see in Device Manager when you plug it in?
... might sound dumb, but try rebooting.

It shows 3DS Capture like so (https://prnt.sc/Fxm-NzZC1smZ). I've rebooted yeah.

Weirdest part was that it went black in the middle of recording - nothing changed or happened to make it do it.

You can open a debug window (in the latest version). Connect the 3DS while that's open and see what it says.
(It prints out a lot of garbage, I'm just interested in whatever message it prints as it connects).

Yeah, I'm looking for something like this when it connects - https://3dscapture.com/tmp/3ds_debug2.png
If you're not getting it, then I guess that's the problem...

Maybe I'm just an untrained eye but aren't those images nearly identical?

It's the "opening ..." part I'm interested in.

Oh, I see. I just Ctrl+F for it and nothing. Any ideas? If I send it to you overnight and include an Overnight label inside the box to return as well, how fast do you think I can get this back in my hands?

I should be able to send it back out the same day, but if it works fine on your other PC, I doubt I'll find anything. Seems much more likely that it's something with that PC.
