Old Model Capture Card: Firmware Update

Post by ProfanedGlitch » Sat Mar 18, 2023 1:01 am

I have one of the old original model capture cards, back when It looked like (pictured). If I plug this board in and attempt to use the newest ds_capture.exe software, I get a notification for a software update. I am a bit hesitant about updating this, in case the hardware is incompatible in some way, and the program is only checking to see if the newest version is present.

Is it safe to update any hardware version of the capture card?

If not, a download option for older versions would be helpful if someone with the older models ever lost their capture software.

Also what kind of changes are included in the software update? does it improve latency in any way?

Yes, it's safe to update. Older versions are still available here - https://3dscapture.com/ds/changelog.html
If it was working ok before, then you won't notice any difference. The firmware change fixed a problem with certain computers that couldn't keep a stable image.
