USB-C charging limitations?

Post by tin » Sun Mar 26, 2023 12:57 am

Hello there,

I recently purchased an OG DS with a Loopy kit installed. The seller said you are able to charge the DS with the USB-C port, but didn’t know the limitations. I tried looking it up on the site and forums but couldn’t find anything.

Question:
Am I able to use a higher wattage Qualcomm QuickCharge X.0, VOOC/WARP charger, or a USB-PD charger to charge the console? Or should I stick with 1.0A or 2.4A USB power blocks? Ideally I’d like to charge the DS from my laptop’s charger, but I don’t want to fry anything if it’s too much power (my RetroSix USB-C mods would get uncomfortably hot if I tried a fastcharger.)

Thanks!

The DS itself is the limiting factor here. It won't try to pull more than 0.4A (or somewhere in that range, I don't remember the exact number). Any charger should be safe to use.
