Does the Fatboy DS kit require Soldering?

Looking at the instructions it does require soldering but taking a look at a few videos from the last 3 years that does not seem to be the case. Just looking for some confirmation on the kit. Can't wait for the New 3DS XL to be available again(hopefully soon) but looking to do the DS in the meantime

Yes, soldering is required.
