Does the capture board draw power when not in use?

I noticed that when wiring it seems to be wired in directly to the 3ds, is it pulling power when it's not plugged in via usb, and if so how much? Would it be possible to easily add a switch to stop that?

It's powered only by USB, it doesn't draw anything from the battery.
