Assuming it's compatible with the current software; it should capture DS no problem.

Looking at the pictures of the WIP, does it look like the final product of the N3DSXL will also have a custom backplate like the OG3DS? Wondering so I can look into potential grip mods. TIA

Sort of seconded. I do want to look into getting a bigger battery for my N3DSXL, and you know those make the N3DSXL bulkier than they normally are.

I remember seeing a video on YouTube where someone cut into a Circle Pad Pro for the OG3DS to accommodate for the custom backplate and I still want to try that for mine. I am a fan of having the trigger grips similar to the Circle Pad Pro, but with the N3DSXL the only option for that is the Monster Hunter ones which are SUPER expensive and I don't think I would want to cut into those.

#1 will I still have access to the sd card?

#2 can I keep my original back cover because I have a special edition n3dsxl

I would like to, yes, but let's worry about one thing at a time.

1) Yes. 2) Yes. It's all internal, no extra backplate needed.
