Some internal cuts to make room for the board. USB-C is pretty fat (compared to microUSB), it doesn't leave a lot of free space. Right now I'm using a CNC router to level out the whole board area, I need to do some experimenting to see how much is really necessary. I don't think it'll need anything that will be visible from the outside other than the connector hole.Greenalink wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 1:53 pmWhat part(s) of the new3DS XL shell that needs cutting? I got the gold Hyrule Triforce model but I am having second thoughts and may get a basic colour N3DSXL to keep my gold one in top condition.
N3DS progress..

As long as most of the bottom face plate is intact, yeah?loopy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 3:37 amSome internal cuts to make room for the board. I've skimmed the thread but didn't see an answer, so sorry if it was answered previously, but, will the boards be available by themselves after the initial test batch if things go well? I like to install console mods myself and if it involves micro-soldering I can do that as well. It'd also save me a decent amount of cash if I don't need to send something from Australia over to America. (Thanks AusPost for increasing prices recently...)
Re: N3DS progress..
Out of curiosity, and apologies if this seems like a silly question, but if my computer does not have USB-C input, what would be the best way to connect this to my computer?
Re: N3DS progress..
I'm really excited to see such a great work, and I want to participate in this test. But I'm a Chinese player, I don't know if I have a chance to get this.

Just now seeing this kit and it's looking fantastic.
I literally just installed one of those Optimize New 3ds Xl kits and having to cut the flex manually left alot to be desired.
Quick question, will these kits be available for available as a DIY kit for others to install?

I look forward to this, as I have been streaming for months now by just pointing a camera at the 3DS. It works but I still don't like it.

I've had the misfortune of having to install one, never again. These will be easier to work with.Modzvilleusa wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 5:30 amI literally just installed one of those Optimize New 3ds Xl kits and having to cut the flex manually left alot to be desired.
