VERY bad crackles at times.

Post by 3DSCaptureNovice » Wed Oct 09, 2024 1:36 pm

I have had my 3DS capture carded for a while now, and the software is really good... when it wants to be. As seen in this file for my playthrough of PiT, at the very end of that part, I get some BAD crackling issues that keep popping up at times. It wasn't this bad previously, and I'd tried installing Lagarith to help, but nothing seems to work. How can I completely eliminate this issue? (The site won't let me attach AVis or MP4s, so how can I show my footage to you?)

What version of the software are you using? The audio code was overhauled when the newer DS boards came out, maybe that's causing problems. See if v5.4 is better.

Older versions

Using 6.1. I just know sometimes when I first click to record, there's a chance of a slight pause before it starts recording, and if I keep recording after that, there's the occasional issue. I found that if I had the windows split and clicked the record button while having either the top or bottom screen box (mainly top for me) active, then it would usually not give much issue, but it seems I might just need to look into getting this issue fixed permanently if possible. I record from my laptop, Alienware 17 R5 running Windows 10.

Does this happen if, instead, you use OBS for recording?

Tried messing with OBS, but it keeps reading my top and bottom screen as the exact same screen when I try to set up two different game captures...

That sounds like an issue with the naming scheme of the windows...?
Does it happen if you use this instead? Top and bottom windows are named differently. https://github.com/Lorenzooone/cc3dsfs/ ... x86_64.zip

Just tried that now... I try to add the top first, then the bottom... but only the top shows up afterwards... I could only record as Joint Mode instead of Split mode...

Went to 5.4 since using OBS and cc3dsfs resulted in a LOT of negative space in my recording. So far, no immediate stops once I click the record button, and no crackling. Thanks, man!

EDIT: So I've found that when stopping recording after a while, there's a delay. Is that normal?

Second Edit: Finally had at least one delay during recording after hitting near the 3 hour mark...
