The 3DS is more powerful than a GameCube, right? The graphics should at least be on par with those of the GameCube. So why does footage taken from 3DS games actually look worse than footage taken from GameCube games?

One word resolution. A television has a higher density of pixels than a 3DS, so naturally it has better image clarity.
