I just found out that my 10 year old DS that was used for direct capture all the way back to late 2011 has a blown up fuse as it no longer powers on and the charging light lasts for a second.
I am figuring out if there is a reliable way to move the USB capture card and restick it to a replacement motherboard, that method is more of a solderless route as I'm not the greatest at replacing teeny tiny fuses (F2 fuse) at the moment. I do have tweezers and nearly a new soldering station to replace it but the motherboard replacements are for sale very cheap too.

that isn't necessarily the problem, loose/damaged screen cables can also cause that reaction, so can a few other harder to fix faults, but yes you can unclip the fpc connectors remove the ribbon cables and swap it to another motherboard
