I have a very old version of the capture card, I probably got it like 15 years ago. People here seem to call it the loopy board from what I've seen searching.
I want to replace the joystick on my 3ds but I can't figure out how to open it with the capture card in place. There is resistance on the right side of the case, which I assume is from the ribbon cable. I found one disassembly video with a similar capture card, but theirs was not glued down as mine seems to be and they could just lift it up. I think if I could break the glue or remove the ribbon cable I could possibly get the back open enough to switch the joystick with some trouble.
Or, should it be easy? Am I doing something wrong elsewhere? Any advice on what to do would be appreciated.
Disassembling 3ds with capture card
Re: Disassembling 3ds with capture card
The old ones were stuck down with double sided tape. Disconnect the ribbon cable, then carefully pry off the board.
Re: Disassembling 3ds with capture card
Alright, if anyone else finds this and is similarly as clueless as I am, to disconnect the ribbon cable, you lift up the black part of the connector, then slide the copper part out. The white part is not part of the cable.
Now that I've done it, the 3ds isn't turning on any more. If I plug in the charger, the light comes on for a few seconds, then goes out. Similar to viewtopic.php?p=24496 but for the original 3ds. I can't find an installation guide for this capture card so maybe I put things back wrong after changing out the joystick. Though, I can't imagine the cable going any other way here.

Check the battery connection.
If you only replaced the joystick, I can't imagine what else it would be.
