Issue with DS Screens on cc3dsfs

Post by Neronium » Mon Jan 26, 2026 2:55 am

Hello,

Couldn't remember my login information for Roxas1359, so made a new account with my newer username, but I am having issues with my New 3DS XL Capture card and the program cc3DSfs. For some bizarre reason the screens swap when playing Nintendo DS games, be they installed on the system or from physical cartridges. It only happens when I use the cc3dsfs program, and I have no issues besides the common screen glitch in some games like Planet Robobot in Loopy's software. I was wondering if anyone else knows of a fix for this or if anyone else is having this issue? I have had the New 3DS XL capture card since Loopy launched them years ago.

This is so weird, as I'd expect there to be garbage due to audio data, but there isn't...
Are you sure this doesn't happen when you use Loopy's software?

Also, what version of cc3dsfs are you using?

This doesn't happen on the Loopy software, only on cc3dsfs. I am using the latest release that was on the GitHub, the one released in December. However, this also occurred on previous versions and on an old Pi 3 and Pi 4.

I do have one of the first New 3DS XL capture cards, like in the first wave when they were first released, and have noticed there are differences in the newer boards from my board from when I have seen.

In the screenshot, are you holding Start/Select when you launch the title?
If you aren't, how does it look when the issue happens if you hold Start/Select when launching the title?
If you are, how does it look when the issue happens if you don't hold Start/Select when launching the title?

Does it happen if you use this old release? https://github.com/Lorenzooone/cc3dsfs/ ... /tag/1.1.0

It does it with both Start and Select held when booting, and when not holding it. The screenshot is from me not holding it but I can get a screenshot when holding it. I will also try the other older release when I get home from work.

I am not the best with Linux, so I cannot seem to get the 1.1.0 version to install on my Pi 4. I keep getting errors when trying to select what commit hash it needs to select. I clone the GitHub completely but then I cannot narrow it down to 1.1.0. Any assistance with the syntax would be appreciated.

Just try using it on Windows to check if the issue happens, for now.

Happens in Windows and on version 1.1.0 as well. I do think it is my capture board because it was so early. Here's what I get from The Windows Capture. It's so weird this happens only in this and not Loopy's software.

Yeah, this is probably because of a slightly different initialization pattern.

If you got me wireshark captures of you launching Loopy's sfotware with your CC, I should be able to check what is different.

Btw, do they swap at runtime, or as soon as you start playing DS games?
Do they not get swapped when you play a non-3D game like Pokèmon XY, ORAS, SM or USUM?

Pardon my ignorance, but what are wireshark captures?

As for the screens, they swap upon booting of the DS games be they physical cartridges or not. It does not happen in XY, or ORAS, haven't tested SM or USUM.

Edit: does not happen in SM or USUM. It's just DS games it seems and some HB apps like 3DSindent.
