Katsukitty Old 3DS XL Capture Card No Signal
Katsukitty Old 3DS XL Capture Card No Signal
Hi there,
I recently purchased and received an old 3DS XL with a Katsukitty capture card installed from this thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5630&p=18174#p18174
Unfortunately, I'm encountering an error when I try to capture the video feed. Specifically, the application that I'm using (n3DS_view, downloaded here: http://blog-non-standard.blogspot.com/) simply shows the following screen: https://imgur.com/a/Cht4Wv6.
I've installed the drivers, tried multiple USB cables, tried using multiple USB ports, edited the calibration settings, rebooted my computer multiple times, but nothing has worked.
I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if this is a hardware issue, but I'd really appreciate any help/advice that can be offered. Thank you in advance.

Re: Katsukitty Old 3DS XL Capture Card No Signal
Have you tried it on an earlier OS? I remember reading a Windows update was causing trouble for both loopy's and Katsukity's boards and rolling back that update fixed it. Unfortunately you'll probably have to use up another activation. Makes me glad I bought a relatively powerful laptop that came with Windows 7, which I know won't be receiving anymore updates!
And I know you said you've tried multiple USB ports, but I've had the best results using the USB 3.0 port with my Katsukity Vita card. The cable was the same old 2.0 cable that I used to charge my Dual Shock 3.

Does your computer see it at all? (Do you get the USB plug-in sound? Do you see it in device manager?)
Re: Katsukitty Old 3DS XL Capture Card No Signal
Yeah, my computer definitely recognizes it and it clearly appears in my device manager list as illustrated here: https://imgur.com/a/ASv4I8g
Also, I do have another Windows machine that I can try it on, I'll give it a shot on that and see if it works. Thanks for the suggestion!

Just a quick update - I tried using a machine with an older OS and it unfortunately did not solve the issue. I'd really really appreciate any help that anyone can offer! I've also reached out to the person who installed and sold the unit to me but they have not replied as of yet.

It sounds like a hardware issue (poor installation or something damaged?) Did the seller test it at all?
Re: Katsukitty Old 3DS XL Capture Card No Signal
Yes I believe it was tested based on this video I received before purchasing: https://www.instagram.com/p/CDQVEe3Fy3s ... otbjtdg7sx
If it is a hardware issue, what would be my next steps? Is it safe to open the console and diagnose it from there, or should I just send it in to the seller?

Re: Katsukitty Old 3DS XL Capture Card No Signal
So I'm trying to fix this myself (due to the seller not responding to my messages anymore) and I was hoping I could get some help with this as I have no experience whatsoever with this kind of stuff.
I followed a guide to take apart the 3DS and have taken pictures of the motherboard with the capture card installed as you can see here: https://imgur.com/a/BrG0ZaF
Is there anything obvious from these pictures that's wrong? If so, would it be possible to guide me through the process of how to fix it?
If there's nothing obviously wrong from these pictures I can take more clear/close up pictures to help determine what might be the issue.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Katsukitty Old 3DS XL Capture Card No Signal
In case anyone finds this thread with similar issues, I found the issue and somehow managed to fix it despite having no prior soldering experience. All it took was soldering the pins illustrated here: http://optimize.ath.cx/LL-SPA3/CIMG0622_1.jpg (hosted here: http://optimize.ath.cx/LL-SPA3/index.htm). I determined this was the issue after running the spd_chk.exe file available to download here: http://optimize.ath.cx/cusb_spa3/src/spd_chk16.zip (hosted here: http://optimize.ath.cx/cusb_spa3/build.html).
For reference I purchased this soldering kit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q2 ... UTF8&psc=1.
I was extremely nervous soldering the capture board but it actually wasn't too difficult all things considering. If anyone sees this and has similar issues I'd recommend considering this if you've exhausted all other options.
